I haven’t picked up anything new in quite a while now.
So today, when I decided to looked at comicvine, to see what was new, the majority of what I saw really disappointed me.
Clones, revamps, wars between friendly factions, revamps, once villains working for the government, revamps, and supposedly “Ultimate” enemies that will probably end up killing someone who will come back in 2 months.
Wtf is going on here?
They keep feeding us this same bullshit.
I realize its hard to come up with new stuff every month, but can’t we just have something a little more fresh and not excruciatingly similar to what they’ve done for the past 10 years?
I don’t think I can even supply them with any suggestions, I’m just tired of seeing “The New ___” like every month. Hey here’s an idea, let’s just keep the old one for a while. Let’s try like a year before we revamp it. Can we just let it stick around and develop a little?
Oh what’s that…?
A new Catwoman? I mean… do we have to, I just-
No, okay. yeah. New Catwoman.
Because… that’s what the people want.
And can we cut out this death spree we seem to be going on?
If comic book characters were real people, Marvel and DC would be the Dexter of killing them off.
“Hmmm…. Superman hasn’t died in at least 3 weeks…”
You know what comes to mind when I think about good comic story lines?
When Speedy was doing heroin. That’s not a playful euphemism about him getting with Wonder Girl or anything.
He shot needles full of heroin into his body.
I guess Speedy really was a fitting name.
That was a good story to me. Not because it was like an after school special from the early 90s, but because it’s character development. Not some bullshit about Doomsday, or Darkseid, or the Dentist.
Yeah, a punch from one of those guys will hurt. It might kill you.
But you know what really hurts? Trying to fight one of them when your sidekick is shooting explosive arrows at “the dragons.”
We neglect the fact that even the heroes endowed with ridiculous powers (here’s looking at you squirrel girl) Are people, or at least have to pretend to be people.
We’re losing characterization with all these insane outlandish story lines. They’re just begging to become those “Remember the time…” stories.
“Remember the time Superboy punched reality?”
“Yeah, that was fucking weird, and in no way relevant to my interests.”
I just want more realistic stuff…I guess is what I’m saying. Some comics are doing that. Others…
Well… It’s safe to say nobody has any idea what the fuck is going on here…
Yeah. So that’s my comic rant for now.
I’m sure something else will piss me off soon enough.
Stick around.
